    This is a great article that is both Biblical and well balanced. If we want to see strong healthy local churches, I believe this is the only pattern that will sustain us long term. Having the continuity from pastor to mentor, from generation to generation is God’s normal means of furthering the gospel (2 Tim 2:2).

    That was a thought-provoking entry on the Socratic method- I haven’t quite examined all the works that you cited 🙂 , but in so far as that method causes us to “think” and search the Scriptures for answers it seems thoroughly biblical. Like you said, we have a pattern set forth in our Lord Jesus when he asked probing questions, causing people to grapple with His claims (and their preconceived notions) and no doubt leading them to search the Scriptures to see if what He claimed was true.
